Have you ever been knocked down?
What sort of question is that??! Like, why else would you even be reading this blog, right? That's why we're all here. We've all been knocked down.
Today I've posted an unusual message from a Nike commercial. Now, you may not be an athlete, may not be in training for the Olympics or the Tour de France, but I'll bet you're in the race of your life . . . straining to stay standing for one more day . . . trying to hold up under the pressures of an unchosen single-life. So I think you'll understand.
If the people in this Nike commercial can run their race for an earthly prize, we can run ours for a heavenly prize with eternal rewards. Let's join in together with the Apostle Paul as he wrote from a prison cell:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13b-14.
In other words, ". . . it's not how you start, it's how you finish . . ."

Get up! Press on! The Nike people ask the question "Just how are you gonna get up?" But the Bible gives the answer--God is with us! Take heart, my friend. Be sure to leave a comment or email me your prayer requests.

"The Lord will fight for you. Just be still." Exodus 14:14. Loved this video. So good to know the Lord lifts us up when we fall. He holds His hands out and says, "Come to me. I will give you rest."
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, Ferree, and I love you for caring enough to write it. You are an example of one who got up, decided to keep running, and made good of your grief.
Hugs to you! Keep running for the prize of your high calling!
Dear Ferree,
ReplyDeleteThis is a verse that has helped me lately,
Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with peace and joy AS YOU TRUST IN HIM, so that you may overflow with hope through the POWER of the holy Spirit." The key for me to remember is *as you trust in Him*---He will supply the power we need to press on!
Thank you for providing this blog for all of us.
Dear Elaine, You're someone with that ever bubbling spring of Living water from Jesus. I hope everyone who has a chance will take the opportunity to hear you speak or read your books. Thanks for sharing God's word and your life with me and the dear women on this blog. --fbh
ReplyDeleteDear MaryLou, I love that verse too! Scripture so sufficiently addresses our needs. Another of my favorites is Ps.119:92 "If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction." Clinging to God's Word fills us with the hope we need. Thanks for sharing!--fbh
