Book discussion date: Thursday, Aug. 26
Title: A Grace Disguised --how the soul grows through loss
        by Jerry Sittser

This is a profound book. Mr. Sittser's wife, mother, and youngest daughter were all killed when a drunk driver crashed into the car he was driving. He lets the reader enter into and walk through his grief and questioning with him. It may take you more than a month to read. That's ok. Read what you can. Mark your favorite spots, underline and share your favorite quotes. Email them to me ahead of time and maybe I can put them in the blog post.

Then, on Aug. 26 I'll highlight a few questions from chapters 7, 9, and/or 14 to get the conversation started. You can comment on the questions, or share your favorite quotes from the book, or casting all that aside, just tell how this book affected you. It's hard to narrow the focus down to only three chapters, but that's what I have to do otherwise we could spend a lifetime on it!

Many of you already have this book, which is why I chose it. If you don't have it, try to borrow it from your library, or your pastor. If you do have to buy it, I guarantee it will be money well spent. This is going to be very interesting, and maybe life-changing! Go ahead and start reading. Tell others to read it and join in, too, widowed or not. ferree

  1. This is by far one of the best books I've read about loss, grief, grace and healing.
