Need A Timer?

Tuesdays are dedicated to Single Living Skills! Send in your handy household tips, recipes, directions for plunging the toilet and all the other fun stuff you get to do now. :) They can be serious and of actual help, or you can vent a little.

Do you ever think, "Oh, I'll just check my email, it'll only take a second," or "Oh, I just need to look up this price, or find that one article real quick . . ." and then look at the clock forty minutes later? What took "only a second," ate up more time than a haircut or an exercise workout!

This happens to me all the time. This morning the brilliant idea struck me to buy a kitchen timer to set next to my computer. Then the even better idea followed: there must be something like that on the Net and it's free!

So, now, 36 minutes later, here it is: the simplest of all timers. Just keep this website handy, mark your minutes, and the timer will go off as you're surfing in another window.

Guess what?
There is also a "Morning Warm Up" exercise timer on this site. So hop to it! Run in place, Jumping jacks, sit ups and more! Exercise is a one of the best things you can do for yourself during grief.

  1. This is the coolest thing ever! I can't hear the kitchen oven timer where my desk is (because I have a piece of you-know-what Gateway computer that runs as loud as an 747), so this is PERFECT! Thank you!!

  2. Oh, Kelly, you made me laugh out loud! And what a great idea--to use it as an oven timer, too.
Can't wipe this smile off my face over the 747 on your desk. Thanks for the fun!

  3. What a great idea! Last night I made the mistake of trying a new computer game. Normally I am not into any of that kind of thing, but for some reason I got hooked. At one point, I looked at the time and it was 10:45 pm. The next time, it was 1:30 am. I am paying for it today.

  5. Ferree - glad to make you laugh! What's even more amusing is, in the past the boys could hear the kitchen timer and when they did, would shout out "BEEPED!" or "BEEPING!" to let me know if was going off. Both the boys have Dells, and you don't even know they're turned on, they are so quiet.
