This week I want to remind you about two nice things going on just for widows.
First: hurry on over to this blog, and comment on it for a chance to win a free book entitled "The Undistracted Widow." The drawing will be tomorrow, so do it right now. Yay!
Second: tomorrow there is a Christian conference just for widows! It's in Knoxville, TN, and Myra, her friend Jan, and I are attending. So I not only get to go to this conference, but I'll also meet Myra and Jan in person! If you are registered, too, please let me know! I'd love to meet you!
The nice part is that I'll now be keeping you aware of conference dates for next year. As soon as I know, you'll know. I want you to have plenty of time to mark your calendar and put some pennies in your piggy bank. In addition to the conference in Knoxville by Widows Ministry (see video link below), Christina Cassidy of Widows Walk told me they are working on conferences in three possible locations for 2011. There's a good chance at least one will be within your reach! Yay!
What happens at a Christian widows conference? Honestly, I don't know for sure. There are some main speakers, there are some small group workshops, there's lunch, there's a worship time and a drama. I'll tell you all about it when I get back. For now, though, here's a little preview on this video, What One Thing Would I Tell Widows? from the Knoxville website. Check it out!-- this little minute from Sherron Lane will make your day!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I am not always able to reply but your remarks mean a lot to me and will appear as soon as possible.
Here are some tips for commenting:

Choosing the anonymous identity is easiest if you do not have your own blog.
Using a computer rather than a cell phone seems to work better. Thanks again!

Here's another retreat for widows that I just came across yesterday. I'm thinking about going even though it's not my church. I think it's great that Calvary Chapel has a ministry to widows!

Joannah, I think it's great, too! Were you able to go? I'd love to hear about it. Thanks for the link, and I'll be contacting them for more info on their 2011 retreat.
ReplyDeleteGood news everyone! I won the book! Since Myra and Rebecca were also in the drawing I'll be happy to share it with them. If you'd like to read it, too, please let me know. We'll ship it around. :)
