Miriam Neff: Africa Sewing Project
Last week I featured the UN International Widows Day and linked to information about the reality of the harsh struggles of widows in India and Africa.
But did you know that Christian widows have already been serving other widows in these places? Yes!
The video posted here today is a 2010 video of Miriam Neff, author of From One Widow to Another, a book many readers mention they've benefitted from.
Please pray for Miriam as she's once again in Africa. Her trip itinerary runs like this:
June 17 - 25 Nairobi, Kenya
July 2-5 Muknotwene Village, Mozambique
Visit the Widow Connection website for more info and resources.
Widows Ministry out of Knoxville, TN has been ministering in India for years with sewing machines, too. Check out their website on how to get involved, and also the various resources they have for widows.
No doubt about it, widowhood is hard, but if you have the means to help others in any way, shape or form, it may be just the path out of grieving that God has ordained for you. Take that first step today, whether it's visiting these websites to learn more about the organizations and needs, leaving a comment on a blog or Facebook that will encourage and strengthen another widow, or picking up the phone to connect with someone nearby. There's a world out there just waiting for your touch.
