Sharing Christ's Sufferings

Every Saturday is devoted to setting time aside for rest and worship over the weekend.

I recently came across this verse, and can't help but wonder if we experience something of "the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings . . ." when we are widowed. He wasn't named "Man of Sorrows" for nothing, was he. Like all babies, the first sound at his birth was a cry; he wept at the death of Lazarus; he wept in the garden of Gethsemane. He wept because He loved. He carried our sorrows, and now He asks us to follow Him through this dark valley of grief.
When I read what Paul said in Phil. 3:10,11, I have to ask myself what do I want out of life, what do I want out of suffering . . . "Do I really want to know Him?"
Let's rest and meditate on some of these thoughts this weekend.

Philippians 3:10,11
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

May His peace be yours,
