Anchor Points from the Old Testament

A while back, Lifeboat members called out verses of Scripture that have become increasingly significant to them during widowhood. Carrying out our nautical theme, I thought you'd appreciate seeing more of these Anchor Points for the soul. Today's are from the Old Testament, except for Psalms. Psalms is so loaded with verses for grieving people that it will make for a separate day.

I hope you'll take a few minutes today to meditate on these verses, maybe even say a prayer for the women who shared them. And if you'd like to try out Lifeboat, click here to find out how to join.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5,6 -Judy, Danna

‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 -Lori

To comfort all who mourn,
To grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:2b,3 -Rebecca, Sharon

For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 -Kathye

I hope these precious promises from God will bring some points of light to your Thanksgiving today.
Blessings,ferree
