A Blessing For Widows

Dear Woman Loved by God,

May the Lord God of Naomi and Ruth build you up in faith in his mighty power.

God is Adonai, "Master" or "Lord." His yoke is easy, and his burden is light. May you find his rest for your soul.

God is Elohim. He is "Strength" or "Power." The sovereign God, the strongest power of the universe, extends his faithful promises to you. May he be your strong tower and shelter from the storms of life.

El-Shaddai! God is "Almighty," the source of all blessings. May you experience the goodness and faithfulness that flow from his hands. His grace is sufficient for you.

Jehovah-rophe, "Jehovah heals." God himself will one day wipe away your tears and heal your brokenness.

Jehovah-jireh means "the God who provides." His eye is on the sparrow, and he clothes the lilies of the field. You are worth far more to him than these! He will provide for you. May you praise him for meeting your needs at just the right moment.

Jehovah-shalom, "the God of peace" be with you. He loves you and will provide a peace that passes understanding.

May the Lord God show kindness to you, my sister. May you find a place of rest and kindness in a field of favor.

Amen and amen.

  2. Thank you for sharing God's blessings with all of us. When I pray at night before I go to sleep I try to remember as many of God's names and attributes as I can and pray them back to him. What a comfort!
