Thank you for taking time to visit today, whether it's Thanksgiving Day, or you've taken leave of Black Friday shopping, or you're just surfing the web and dreading another lonely weekend. I'm so sorry for your loss, but so glad you've chosen to stop here today. As I was wondering what to post for these three days, November 29 - 30--- what resource could possibly carry you through, I was drawn to the promises of God, and how His Word was my rescue rope when I was widowed.
If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. Psalm 119:92
I used that verse at the front of my book, Postcards From The Widows Path. I would have perished perfectly described my desperation. As far as the God's law being my delight, I certainly can't boast that I found a sort of school-girl giggly, clap-my-hands, silly delight. But it sustained and satisfied my core in a rich, foundational way and eventually brought me evidence of deep joy. That's true delight!
So today, desiring to bring you the very best, I searched for Scriptures we all can use for some delight--for rich, foundational sustenance and satifaction.
Let these verses from the heart of God lift you up as you join in their praise. Be sure to scroll all the way down for an encouraging link.
Psalm 69:30
I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 95:2
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
Psalm 100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Isaiah 51:3
The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
1 Corinthians 1:4
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.
I Corinthians 4:15
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 9:11
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
Philippians 1:3
I thank my God every time I remember you.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
2 Thessalonians 1:3
We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
This Thanksgiving Day and weekend, as I reflect on the many blessings God has brought to me, I will especially thank our Lord for the privilege of meeting you and seeing His grace and power in your life at this difficult time. May He hold you in His grace as you continue to trust in Him today.
I Thess. 5:16-18---we're not called to be thankful FOR our circumstances, rather God calls us to be thankful IN our circumstances.
Be joyful always;
pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
I plan to post here again on Monday, Lord willing, and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers until then.
God bless you,
♥ ferree
