A Widow's Story: God Sent A Sparrow

When people say "Hi, how are you?" my standard response is, "Just fine, how are you?" And most of time that's true enough, and it's always fitting since that question is more of a greeting than an invitation to sit down and open up with them---something I learned the hard way through widowhood when at times I took that question literally and told some how I really was not fine and gave them a long list of issues---you should have seen the look on their faces! Poor things!

But what if I was sitting at my daughter's college graduation a few hours after I'd learned my husband had died? My friend Linda, from Sparrow Scrolls blog, also writes for A Widows Might website. Today she tells how God and a little sparrow got her through that event. I discovered a couple of reasons for her affinity to sparrows, and how God's grace targets and touches us in lavish and very personal ways on days when life is not fine at all. I know you'll love her post, so please click here to read it:

And while you're there, take a look at the RETREAT coming up in November! A widows conference! I'll be one of the presenters and I hope you can come! Early bird pricing discount ends May 30.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)
