C.A.S.T. PRAYING
Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22
(Words to pray are in italics).
Dear Lord, You will never let the righteous fall? Please help me then! This sure feels like falling! Help me know my righteousness is not of myself, it's only because Jesus Christ redeemed me and has clothed me with his righteousness. I will NOT FALL because you will always catch me. You will sustain me. I truly can cast my cares on you.
CONFESSION
If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Psalm 66:18,19
O Lord, are there things displeasing to you that I don't want to give up? Secret things in my heart that no one would suspect? I cannot hide them from you. I should know that by now. You see my unconfessed sins plainly. They clearly signal that I value my own way more than your attentive listening. Let me think about that a few moments and decide what I'm ready for: your listening to me personally, or me keeping my secrets dishonestly from you.
Father, forgive me, sometimes I don't know the serious consequences of what I'm doing. I discount you and what Jesus Christ has done for me. I credit my past, or a guilty conscience as the source of conviction rather than the holiness of your Spirit pressing in on me. Let me now surrender to your will and confess the following:_________
(If you are praying with a group this part of the confessing is done silently by the individuals. After a few moments of silent prayer the leader would sensitively move the group on to Adoration).
ADORATION
Praise be to God who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! Psalm 66:20
Lord God, your love washes over me and cleanses me from every sinful act and thought. I cherish your forgiveness and praise you for your power to give me a second chance, a new life starting this very moment. I want to praise and adore you for your mercy and faithfulness. You never leave me, never abandon me. You catch me when I stumble and lead me to restoration and abundance. But this isn't about me, or what you do for me. The power of life and death is in your hands. You alone are worthy to be praised.
SUPPLICATION
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us,
that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations.
may the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.
May the peoples praise you, O God;
may all the peoples praise you. Psalm 67:1-5
Lord, your blessings provide everything we need. I beg you to shine on the world, the peoples of the world today. Shine on me. Shine through me. Let me be glad and sing for joy. May I praise you, O God; may all the peoples of the earth praise you.
THANKSGIVING
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say this--
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for men,
for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:1,2a,8,9
Lord, thank you for your goodness. It is through and through and your love endures forever. You have never failed me, your works are wonderful and bless all mankind. You have satisfied my thirsty soul and filled my hungry loneliness with good things. I thank you for these three things today: 1._________2.________3.__________
